In the next few weeks, Father Kevin and I will work to answer your questions to the best of our ability, beginning with one question at a time!  Below is the answer to our first question.
  • Is masturbation a sin? If so, why?
  • Is telling a lie always considered a sin? For example: a white lie.
  • Can you explain the discrepancies and inconsistencies in the bible?
  • Does the church believe abortion illegal? If so, why not let people choose for themselves because people have different values and religious beliefs?
  • In case of abuse/emotional neglect from parent to child, how should we act as a witness for that child and how does that align with “honor thy father and thy mother?”
  • What is the most direct and effective way to stop injustice in the world today?
  • As Catholics, we are taught to spread our religion. In difficult times like what is currently happening around the world, some people blame religion for the world’s problems. Should we still spread our faith or what should we do to prevent further conflict?
  • Is everything in the bible meant to be taken in a complete literal form?
  • What do we do with friends who are Christians but not Catholic?

IS masturbation A SIN?

'The deliberate use of the sexual faculty, for whatever reason, outside of marriage is essentially contrary to it's purpose.' For here sexual pleasure is sought outside of the 'sexual relationship which is demanded by moral order and in which the total meaning of mutual self-giving and human procreation in the context of true love is achieved.' Catechism of the Catholic Church 2525
